KIGALI, 15 January 2026 โ On 15 January, Roots & Shoots Rwanda successfully completed a powerful training for 20 volunteers and 20 club facilitators and teachers supporting Evergreen โ Phase II, our nature-based mental health program implemented in partnership with Dr. Allie Simmons.
The program has now expanded from 3 to 10 schools. The session was highly impactful, and participants strongly committed to supporting more than 500 Roots & Shoots members to care for their mental well-being while making responsible choices to conserve our planet.
"When mental health and nature come together, real change begins." ๐๐
Evergreen is a mindfulness and nature connection program for youth across Rwanda, fostering emotional resilience and well-being through nature-inspired teachings. Phase II marks a major milestone in the program's growth:
Participants explored the core principles of the Evergreen curriculum:
At Roots & Shoots Rwanda, we believe that caring for the environment and caring for ourselves are deeply connected. When young people feel grounded, emotionally supported, and connected to the natural world, they are better equipped to become compassionate leaders and changemakers.
Evergreen Phase II is our commitment to that vision โ and with 10 schools now on board, we are just getting started. ๐ฑโจ
