International Children's Book Day & Earth Day at ALU

KIGALI, 24 April 2025 — Celebrating the joy of reading and the beauty of our planet! 🌍📚

On 24 April 2025 at Africa Leadership University (ALU), Roots & Shoots Rwanda hosted exciting activities in honor of International Children's Book Day and Earth Day.

What We Did

Children engaged in a series of meaningful activities designed to connect a love for books with a love for our planet:

• 📖 Storytelling sessions featuring stories about nature, animals, and environmental heroes
• 🌱 Environmental awareness campaigns highlighting how small actions protect our Earth
• 🎨 Creative activities where children illustrated their vision of a healthy planet
• 🌳 Discussions on how books and education are powerful tools for environmental change

The Connection Between Reading and Conservation

Books have the power to inspire. When children read stories about nature, animals, and environmental champions, they develop empathy and a sense of responsibility for the world around them. Today's young readers are tomorrow's conservation leaders.
