On 18 May 2023, an awareness activity on biodiversity conservation was conducted at Rossignol School in Bishenyi to celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity. The activity aimed to help students understand the importance of protecting nature and the many living species that share our planet.
During the session, students learned about biodiversity, including different animals, plants, and ecosystems that make our environment rich and balanced. Facilitators explained how biodiversity supports healthy ecosystems and why it is essential for people, animals, and the planet.
To make the learning more interactive and enjoyable, students participated in a drawing activity where they illustrated different elements of biodiversity such as animals, trees, insects, and natural landscapes. Through these drawings, learners expressed their creativity while reflecting on the beauty and importance of nature.
The activity created an engaging space for students to discuss environmental protection and share their ideas on how they can help conserve biodiversity in their communities. By encouraging creativity and participation, the session helped students develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
This initiative continues the mission of Roots & Shoots Rwanda to inspire young people to care for nature and take action in protecting biodiversity for future generations.
