Roots & Shoots Rwanda celebrated World Environment Day 2025 through engaging sessions with youth at UNILAK and Sparrow Parents School in Kigali.
The sessions were held under Dr. Jane Goodall's vision and the Roots & Shoots approach — inspiring young people to take action to protect the environment, animals, and human communities.
The sessions emphasized a powerful truth that lies at the heart of the Roots & Shoots program:
Human survival depends on interconnected relationships — with one another, with animals, and with nature. A healthy planet is essential for the well-being of all.
Students were encouraged not to wait for large-scale solutions, but to act now at the individual level — understanding that small, consistent actions multiplied across thousands of young people create lasting, meaningful change.
World Environment Day is one of the most important dates in the Roots & Shoots calendar. Every year, it is an opportunity to deepen young people's connection to the natural world and reinforce their role as protectors of the planet — because the environment does not belong to governments or organizations; it belongs to all of us.
